Applicants under 18 cannot become active participants until required guardian approval is received and reviewed.
PRIVACY & YOUTH SAFETY
Families should know exactly how participation works.
This notice explains what FishaCat Live collects for W.A.T.C.H. and NextCast, how youth appearances are supervised, how records are protected, and how a parent or guardian can review, correct, withdraw, or delete information.
Private by default
Applications, contact details, and signed consent documents are not published on the public website.
Adult supervision
Youth guest-host appearances are supervised by the adult FishaCat Live host. Participants do not receive independent channel access.
Family control
A verified parent or guardian may request access, correction, withdrawal of permission, or deletion.
ELIGIBILITY
Programs begin at age 13.
FishaCat Live does not accept W.A.T.C.H. or NextCast applications from children under 13. W.A.T.C.H. applicants ages 13 to 17 require parent or guardian approval. NextCast accepts applicants ages 13 to 17 and requires signed guardian consent before participation. W.A.T.C.H. membership is not required.
If information is submitted showing that an applicant is under 13, FishaCat Live will not process the application and will delete the information once identified, except where a short period is necessary to document and complete the deletion.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Only what is needed to review and safely run the program.
- Applicant information: name, email address, age or age group, and for NextCast, home state.
- Guardian information: parent or guardian name, email address, phone number, and a signed consent document for applicants under 18.
- Program responses: weather interests, show title and pitch, planned segments, intended official sources, experience, and requested support.
- Safety confirmations: required acknowledgements concerning supervision, privacy, respectful communication, and use of official sources.
- Security information: human-verification results and one-way technical hashes used to limit spam and duplicate submissions. FishaCat Live does not store a readable IP address in the application record.
Please do not submit a home address, school name, precise location, government identification number, medical record, or other sensitive information unless FishaCat Live specifically requests it for a documented safety need.
HOW INFORMATION IS USED
Review, guardian coordination, safety planning, and participation.
Information is used to evaluate eligibility, communicate with the applicant and guardian, confirm consent, plan an age-appropriate show, provide reasonable production support, maintain program safety, and document participation decisions. FishaCat Live does not sell youth or guardian information and does not use it for targeted advertising.
ON-AIR & COMMUNICATION SAFETY
Supervised participation with clear boundaries.
- The adult FishaCat Live host remains present and in control throughout a NextCast appearance.
- Youth participants use an approved on-air name and must not disclose a home address, school, personal phone number, precise routine, private account information, or live location.
- Program scheduling and consent communications may include the parent or guardian. FishaCat Live will not ask a youth participant to keep program communications secret from a guardian.
- The host may pause or end an appearance immediately for safety, privacy, conduct, technical, or weather-coverage reasons.
- NextCast appearances may be livestreamed, recorded, clipped, and available for replay as described in the signed consent form. Families should discuss the lasting public nature of recorded online video before agreeing.
SERVICE PROVIDERS
Limited systems help operate the program.
FishaCat Live uses Supabase for the private application database and private consent-document storage, Cloudflare Turnstile for human verification, Vercel for website hosting, and YouTube for livestreaming and recorded video. These services may process technical information under their own terms and privacy notices. Access to application records and consent files is restricted to authorized operational review.
RETENTION & DELETION
Records are not intended to be kept indefinitely.
- Incomplete, withdrawn, or declined applications: targeted for deletion within 90 days after the application is closed or determined to be abandoned.
- Accepted participant records and signed consent: retained while participation is active and for up to one year after the participant’s last program activity, then deleted unless a documented legal, safety, dispute, or safeguarding need requires a longer period.
- Spam-prevention records: retained only as long as reasonably needed to prevent abuse and investigate submission problems.
- Public livestream recordings: may remain available after program participation ends. A guardian may request review or removal, but FishaCat Live cannot guarantee deletion of copies independently saved or shared by others.
FishaCat Live reviews youth-program records at least annually and uses reasonable measures to delete database records and private files when their retention period ends.
PARENT & GUARDIAN RIGHTS
Review, correct, withdraw, or delete.
A verified parent or legal guardian may ask what youth information is held, request a copy, correct inaccurate information, withdraw permission for future participation or collection, or request deletion. FishaCat Live may request reasonable information to verify the requester’s identity and relationship before releasing or changing private records.
Withdrawing consent ends future youth participation unless and until new approval is completed. FishaCat Live aims to acknowledge requests promptly and complete verified requests within 30 days when reasonably possible.
